Ana's story

The Communal Bank "Amor y Paz" meets every fifteen days in the parish of Calderón in the city of Portoviejo. In this area, the people make a living in agriculture, raising animals and selling their products.

Here Ana lives, who is 48 years old and married. She has three children from this relationship who are of independent age, two of whom still live with her. Her husband is a merchant. Ana works together with her husband as a merchant. They sell agricultural products including cooked tamarind by the pound, peanuts whole and ground, achiote and other products at wholesale and retail prices. She works everyday from 4:00 am until 3:00 pm. In addition to selling in the area where they live, they also travel to other cities including Manta, Portoviejo and Quevedo, places which they sell their products at a very good prices. They buy their products from farmers in the area, process them and then deliver them to sell.

This credit will be used to buy peanuts, tamarind and achiote, in addition to other products that she sells. She has been a part of this Communal Bank since it began and likes it because of the benefits they receive from the bank.

Her goal is to buy a car to make her sales more easily.
