A loan of $2,825 helped a member to purchase guinea pigs.

La Estancia < Paute> Group's story

The La Estancia community bank is made up of seven women who are friends and neighbors. They live in the outskirts of the Paute canton, where there is a mild climate, there is fertile land where they plant a large variety of fruits and the most beautiful flowers. The people work in commerce, agriculture, and raising animals. They are kind people who always have a smile for visitors. The cuisine is varied and they maintain the culture and traditions of their people.

One of the members of the group is Carmita. She has been a member for a year and a half. She lives in the community of Rumihurco in the canton of Paute. She is a single mother of a five year old who is studying in a small school in their town. She lives in her mother's house and they share all of the household expenses.

Carmita stays at home doing housework but in order to have financial independence, she works raising guinea pigs and chickens which she sells in her community either live or plucked.

She will invest her new loan in the purchase of guinea pigs so that she can increase her breeding of those animals.

Her goal is to give her son a good education.
