A loan of $800 helped a member to buy pagnes for resale.

Diyabougou Group's story

The four members of the group DIYABOUGOU are married women who average 27 years of age and five children each, and who live mostly in monogamous families in SANOUBOUGOU I, a working-class district of the city of Sikasso. They are seeking a third loan with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to meet the needs of their customers.

Mrs. ASSETOU sells pagnes (colorful west-African cloth). She is the one standing third from the right. She will use her loan to buy 15 pagnes from wholesalers to sell at retail, for cash, on location and at the market, to a clientele consisting mainly of women.

She expects to earn an average monthly profit of 25,000FCFA, part of which she will use to repay her loan and interest, and the remainder to be added to her savings.
