Maa Birajai Self Help Group's story

Maa Birajai Self Help Group is located in the village of Hatabradihi in Odisha, India, and has 12 members. All members are women. Pitei, 48, lives with her husband and their two school-aged children in a humble home. Pitei’s husband works as a fisherman in Chilika Lake. To help supplement income for their family, Pitei prepares and dries the fish to sell in the village market. A loan from Kiva lenders will help her purchase fishing net and a storage box to sell more fish and increase her profit.
