Herminda is a 52-year-old resident of Kapalaran, Tambulig. She provides her four children's needs from the little amount of 20,000 PHP she has earned monthly from her own piggery business for 4 years, as an aid to the income earned by her husband. However, in 2010 she became a member of GDMPC, and she has applied for a loan from GDMPC micro finance of 40,000 PHP to buy feeding supplies. Herminda wants to expand her business one day.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
