A loan of $450 helped to buy complete fertilizer, urea and tomato seeds.

Francisco's story

Francisco is from the Laguna County area. He is married and has two children in his care, ages 15 and 17. He grows maize, beans and tomatoes and says he began working with his father, but at age 23 married and decided to work independently. At that time, he did not use many supplies. His sons help out with the farming at harvest time. He takes his produce of maize, beans and tomatoes to sell in Managua, since it gets a better price there.

Today, Francisco is requesting a loan to buy complete fertilizer, urea and tomato seeds so he can sow a vegetable patch irrigated through gravity with the water in the county. Francisco says the loan will help because now he does not have the money to buy the fertilizer and urea for the maize and beans.
