Olga's story

Olga is kind and cheerful and 34 years old. She lives with her boyfriend Rogelio, her long time partner whom she is about to marry. They live together in a comfortable home with their children Roger and Yetziluz who are 13 and 16, respectively. One of her objectives is to re-build her house out of brick, since they put up and adobe house on some property they own. She runs her small grocery store that she has able to set up in an appealing space in her house 7 years ago. Her children help her in different activities. one of the things that motivated her to work as a shop owner was wanting to be at home with her children. On her list of customers are people who don't pay on time after she extends them credit out of friendship. This hurts her at times, but despite that she has had a certain success and so she has to stock up on a variety of products so that she can continue to be, as she has always been, the neighborhood favorite. She wants to expand her business and also start to build her house out of brick and she feels that it is possible. This is loan number 13. She is very grateful and confident she can make her payments. She is described as a very supportive person in her communal bank by the other members.

With the 1,000 soles, she will buy products that her business doesn't have and others that are in constant demand. Among these are sugar, rice, perserves and more.
