A loan of $600 helped to buy a stand-up freezer and raw materials.

Sonia's story

Sonia, 45, lives in Soledad part of the Barranquilla metropolitan area. She sells snacks and general products made from wheat flour that she packs in Styrofoam trays covered with plastic wrap. She also sells frozen treats and makes ice that she sells among her main merchant customers from her and from adjacent neighborhoods.

Her goal is to reach higher levels of family income because she dreams with her 13-year-old daughter having a quality education that will help her be very successful. She’s currently applying for a Kiva loan, her first Fundación Mario Santo Domingo financing to buy a stand-up freezer that will provide hygiene and the required storage for her frozen treats and for her raw materials to increase sales and move along the path towards income growth and improved family wellbeing.
