A loan of $1,125 helped to buy a new refrigerator.

Katherine's story

When Katherine received her previous Fundación Mario Santo Domingo loan she bought larger amounts of foodstuffs like rice, oil, tubers, vegetables and meat that she resold quickly. Her working capital turned over and she earned a bit more not only through the sales but also because of the discounts she got by purchasing larger amounts and this was made possible thanks to the loan.

She lives in Puerto Colombia located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea so she’s surrounded by beaches, breeze and sea. She develops in this environment of tourism that creates a good clientele for her restaurant. She wants to make it grow by applying resources to it that will facilitate her increase of working capital and thus her sales.

She’s now planning to buy a new refrigerator because her current one is having mechanical failures and this isn’t good for business. This is why she’s applying once again for a loan through Kiva. The investment will be successful because it’s meeting an immediate need and in the ten years’ experience she’s attained she’s learned well how to manage her resources; she also has a good clientele that she cares for with dedication and needs to respond to promptly.

Her message to Kiva lenders is the following: “I am grateful for the help received and hope you will continue to help many people like me around the world.”
