Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Mwanamkasi's story

Mwanamkasi has been selling seafood for approximately seven years. She started out working as a farmer but then decided to establish her own business selling fish. Mwanamkasi gradually grew her business and has built up a good clientele over many years. She wakes up at 6:00 A.M. and heads to the docks where the fishing boats arrive. She is a married woman with four grown children. With this loan, she wants to buy fish, a frying pan, and cooking oil. Among her goals are to grow her business, to have enough capital to start another business, and to have another source of income.
