Update on Concepción

Concepción is 56 years old. She comes from a farming family and has worked for forty years as a farmer. She cultivates two plots of citrus. She does the work with the help of her children who are all adults. They help her with the farming work and others provide financial support for her household expenses.

This is her ninth loan and she will use it to purchase manure, fertilizer, and insecticide. At the beginning, Concepción had many difficulties with her crops but slowly she was able to take advantage of financing. In the future, she wants to leave her children and grandchildren the land that she has improved with a lot of effort.

Doña Concepción tiene la edad de 56 años, de familia agricultora desde hace 40 años se dedican a esta actividad, cultiva 2 manzanas de cítricos en donde ella sola saca adelante esta labor con la ayuda de sus hijos quienes todos son mayores de edad y le ayudan con el trabajo de la agricultura y otros le brindan apoyo económico para los diferentes gastos del hogar. Este es su noveno crédito solicitado para comprar abono, urea, completo e insecticida, al comienzo Concepción tuvo muchas dificultades para dichas siembras pero poco a poco logro el financiamiento el que ha sabido aprovechar, para que en un futuro heredarles a sus hijos y nietos las plantaciones que con mucho esfuerzo saco adelante.

Concurrent and Successive Loans

Our Field Partners often work with borrowers over a series of loans as the borrowers build credit, take out bigger loans, and expand their businesses. In order to make it easier for our Field Partners to post loans for borrowers who have been listed on Kiva before, we allow them to post successive and concurrent loans for their Kiva borrowers. This means that our Field Partners are able to post a borrower's second, third, etc., loan on Kiva without having to re-enter all of the borrower's information.

This borrower has been listed on Kiva before, so you'll see an updated loan description, as well as excerpts of the original descriptions from earlier loans. Most borrowers take out loans consecutively, meaning that they receive a second loan after having repaid the first. However, sometimes our Field Partners give out concurrent loans, allowing borrowers to take out one primary loan and a secondary "add-on" loan along with it. These "add-on" loans are typically smaller than the borrower's primary loan and serve a different purpose. Because Field Partners can now post loans as successive and concurrent loans, you will be able to track borrower progress over time and see the various ways a borrower is working with our Field Partners through funds from Kiva’s lenders.
