A loan of $1,275 helped to buy urea, fertilizer and insecticides.

Santos Alberto's story

Santos is from a farming family and began this activity when he was very young. With a lot of effort he has been able to raise seven children who are now adults and live independently. At 66 years of age he continues working hard and this is his 14th loan. He is in need of farm supplies to maintain his cactus fruit crop, and plans to buy urea, fertilizer and insecticides for crop improvement. His wife is a homemaker who keeps things running smoothly at home.

The main obstacle he has run into has been lack of financing, but thankfully that is being taken care of now with a Kiva loan through Afodenic. In the future he would like to plant a variety of fruit.
