Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $600 helped to buy chickens, rice powder, seed, insecticide, and urea.

Jefferson Sebastian's story

Jefferson Sebastián, 27, is single and has no children. He lives with his parents in Ventanas, Los Ríos Province. He's a member of 16 de Agosto Communal Bank, located in the Agua de Mocache area of Mocache Canton, where the people make a living in agriculture and livestock.

Jefferson Sebastián makes a living in agriculture, growing corn and raising animals. He's requesting the loan to buy chickens, rice powder, seed, insecticide, and urea. With the help of the loan he'll be able to buy what he needs for his crops as well as chicken to raise, fatten, and sell. He'll make his purchases in the city of Ventanas.

His dream is to buy himself a truck to transport his products for sale. The challenges he faces are pests in the corn. In his free time he likes to play indoor soccer.
