A loan of $2,900 helped a member to increase her salon’s stock by buying hair products in bulk.

Betsaida Baco Group's story

Mireille is the leader of the Community Bank named “Betsaida Baco,” which is composed of six members, united in solidarity for receiving Kiva loans with the goal of developing their businesses.

Mireille has been part of the micro-enterprise world since 2008. She operates a hair salon in her area. She works hard with good management skills, in order to realize her dream of opening a larger hair salon in her environment some day. She would also like to achieve financial independence through her business, in which she earns about $60US per week. Mireille has already obtained and correctly repaid eleven loans from HOPE DRC microfinance institution. She will increase her stock of merchandise with this loan, by buying hair products in bulk for her business. Mireille is 29 years old, single, and the mother of four children, whose ages range from three to eight years. Three of her children attend school.
