A loan of $525 helped to buy ingredients like meat, flour, cooking oil, and to buy soft drinks.

Reyna Elizabeth's story

Reina, age 49, is in a common-law marriage with her husband, and she has four children. She lives in the suburban area of the San Pedro Sula municipality in the Cortés department. Four years ago Reina established her business of selling food, which she prepares herself. In her business she sells breakfast, lunch, chicken with banana slices, “baleadas” (typical food: a wheat flour tortilla with beans and cheese), and soft drinks. She is currently requesting a loan for 10,000 lempiras to buy raw materials like meat, beans, rice, cooking oil, and soft drinks. She feels that the loan will help her to offer a variety of food. In the future she is thinking of expanding her business by setting up a cafeteria.
