A loan of $400 helped to buy 10 bags of organic manure to fertilise his crops.

Segundo's story

Segundo, 36, lives with Maria and their four children aged 17, 13, 8 and 7. They all live together in their own home in a native community in the rainforest.

Segundo is a farmer. Every morning, he heads to her fields filled with enthusiasm. He grew up surrounded by nature and fruit plantations, which is how he learnt to sow seeds.

Alongside his wife, he works on 5 plots of land, which were given to him by the community, where he grows coffee, bananas and yuccas.

"I have worked in the fields for almost 20 years and I enjoy producing and selling my fruit", he comments.

The tasks are tiring and absorbing, which is why he needs to hire labourers who he pays daily.

This year he had a good coffee harvest and hopes that next year he will achieve a greater yield, which is why he works hard on his crops now.

He hopes to use the support to buy organic fertiliser. This is his second loan with MFP. He is committed to being punctual with his scheduled payments.

"Los Productores Yaneshas" is the name of his communal bank and he is happy to work in a team with the other members. With the money he will be able to buy 10 bags of organic fertiliser to spread on his coffee and banana crops.
