A loan of $775 helped to buy 20 bags of poultry manure.

Julio's story

Julio, 32, lives with Janeth and their 3 children aged 7, 4 and 2 in their own home, which Julio built in a native community in the rainforest. Julio is a charismatic and persevering man. He has worked in farming since he was 17. He began learning how to work the land when he was young and started out with his own seeds and plots of land within the community were gifted to him by his parents. He grows coffee, yucca and bananas. "it's profitable to grow more than 2 fruits, which is why I try to grow more as often as possible", he comments. 2 months ago is coffee crop was ready for harvest, which made him very happy as he was able to pay off his debts and save. For this reason, he is dedicated to caring for his crops. Now, he requires support to acquire bags of organic fertiliser so he can be prepared for the following year's production. This is his second loan with MFP. He comments that with his first loan he tried some co-operative work, which allowed him to save and, thanks to the educational talks, he consolidated his plans for the future. He belongs to the communal bank "Productores Yaneshas" With the money, he will be able to obtain 20 bags of farm animal manure to spread on his coffee, yucca and banana crops.
