A loan of $275 helped to buy pea plants and organic fertilizer.

Bartolo's story

Bartolo is a 46 year old man who is in a committed relationship with his wife. He lives in Sololá. He has seven children; five boys go to school and work with him and two girls.

He is a hard-working man who is thriving, always at his family’s side. He grows vegetables like potatoes and carrots, which he sells at the local market and other places.

His children help him with this business activity. He started this work 25 years ago because it is the main business activity that his parents taught him. He sees that growing these vegetables has produced good results with the prices improving his family’s finances.

After harvesting potatoes he wishes to cultivate the land again. To do so he needs 2,000 quetzales to buy young pea plants and organic fertilizer. This way he will cultivate and have a better harvest. He hopes to have good income and to continue improving his earnings.

Seeing his children complete an academic career is the biggest dream that he and his wife have. Therefore, he will continue working a lot in order for this to become a reality in his life.
