A loan of $1,125 helped to buy an edging machine to do woodwork in his business.

Luis's story

Luis, age 47, lives with his wife and three children in a suburban neighborhood of San Pedro Sula. Luis has had a cabinetmaking shop at his house for two years. He makes wood furniture like cradles, different designs of tables, kitchen furniture, dining room furniture, and carved furniture like curtain hangers, doors, and others. He previously worked at a handicraft business, and that is where he learned to make his carved works.

This is the first time he has requested a loan with ODEF, which is for 22,000 lempiras. He will use it to buy an edging machine for his business. With this investment he hopes to improve his work and be able to increase sales. His plan is to take advantage of the opportunity of the loan in order to grow in his business. In the future he hopes to be able to buy a piece of land to locate his business separate from his house.
