Her husband’s name is Alexandre. They have three dependent children, all in school. Micheline lives together with her husband and children. The spouses jointly provide for their children. Micheline did not attend school. For almost seven years, Micheline has been selling second-hand clothing in a region of Benin. Micheline is dedicated to her work which allows her to support herself and her children. Micheline stocks up at a market in Benin. With the goal of meeting customer demand, Micheline, together with the other members of the Nonvignon group, is seeking her first loan. This loan will allow group members to better respond to customer demand and increase their revenues.

NONVIGNON est un groupement de vingt personnes, dont les membres résident dans le même quartier. La représentante du groupe, Micheline (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgée de 40 ans et est mariée à un certain Alexandre. Le couple a trois enfants tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Micheline vit ensemble avec ses enfants et son mari. Le couple assure ensemble les différentes charges des enfants. Micheline n’a pas fréquenté l’école. Il y a près de sept ans que Micheline mène comme activité la vente des friperies dans une région du Bénin. Micheline exerce cette activité passionnément, ce qui lui permet de subvenir à ses besoins et à ceux de ses enfants. Micheline s’approvisionne dans un marché du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle, Micheline sollicite un premier crédit avec les autres membres du groupement NONVIGNON. Ce crédit leur servira à mieux répondre aux demandes de leur clientèle et à se faire plus de profits.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
