Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $650 helped to buy basic grains, soda, deodorant, sanitary towels, canned goods, etc.

Nery Carmen's story

Nery is 32 years old and has two children who are attending school. She is dedicated to commerce for nine years, starting with the sale of underwear in the municipal market. She kept it in this place for four years, and then moved her business to her home where not only sold underwear but also sells bicycle parts and basic grains, soda, deodorant, canned goods, etc. Before Nery started her business, she worked as a maid in a bakery.

The loans have been granted to invest more in her business and be able to keep it stocked. The loans have been very helpful, because they allow her to have a better life for her and her children.
