Ruth's story

Ruth is a widow and has six children, four of whom attend school. She has a business of selling green bananas, which she has been doing for 10 years. She sells to all categories of people on a retail level. She works seven days a week. Ruth is requesting a loan for 1000000 Uganda shillings from MCDT SACCO, which she will use to buy more bunches of green bananas at the market. Her major business challenges include seasonality and thieves. She hopes to become a wholesaler and also to build rental rooms. She resides in her own house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses includes school and utility bills.
