A loan of $250 helped to buy more raw materials for making brushes.

Milly's story

Milly lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with eight children, six of whom go to school. She doesn’t take care of any additional family members. She lives in her own house with access to electricity but not piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and food.

Milly makes brushes, and sells them on a retail basis. She has been in this business for the last 5 years, and works six days a week. She also gets additional income from teaching. She has requested a loan of 600,000 Ugandan shillings from MCDT – SACCO to buy raw materials for making brushes. Her major business challenges are transportation and seasonality. Her goals are to own a plot where she can build rental houses, and also to educate her children up to university.
