A loan of $375 helped a member to buy fertilizer and pay labor fees.

Sas' Group's story

Sas, 49, is a rice farmer in a rural village of the Pursat province’s Kror Kor district of Cambodia. She has three children, one of whom is dependent on her and still in school in the local area. Besides farming rice on 1.5 hectares of farmland, she sometimes works for others for a fee to earn additional income in order to better support her family. Sas has been in this business for several years. From the current business, she is able to earn about 30,000 KHR per day. She saves about 15,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.

Sas is in her first cycle loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Now she is leading her group to apply for the loan. She is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and to pay for labor fees. Through this loan, she hopes for a high yield from her farming business, so she can continue to improve her standard of living and keep her child in school.
