A loan of $4,925 helped a member to buy more sacks of charcoal and rice.

Makongo Kk Group's story

Justina, who is in her early 30's, is married and has three children who go to school. She has been running her business selling charcoal and vitumbua (puff rice cake) for six years now. She works from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, and she is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be her second loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to buy more rice for making more vitumbua (puff rice cake) and to cover household expenses, and she has paid back her loan successfully. She hopes for a loan to buy more sacks of charcoal and rice. Her dream is to one day be able to build a house.

She will share this loan with her loan group "Makongo KK," which has 12 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
