A loan helped to buy more cosmetics and products for hair.

Susan's story

Susan is 18 years old and lives in the town of Lugazi in the Mukono region of Uganda. For the past four years, Susan has been working hard to manage her salon, where she sells cosmetics and hair pieces.

To help expand her business, Susan has requested a loan of UGX 600,000 from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more cosmetics and products for hair. It will help Susan to generate greater profits and maintain and nurture her family. Susan hopes she will be able to have a better future.

Susan is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
