Raem is 47 years old. She is rice farmer in a rural village of the Battambang province’s Sangke district in Cambodia. She has four children, two of whom are dependent on her and still attend school in the local area. In addition to rice farming, she has been growing corn on two hectares of farmland for 20 years. She earns approximately 30,000 KHR per day from her current business and manages to save 10,000 KHR each day after deducting daily expenses.

Raem has been with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, for three cycles. She completely repaid the previous loans, which have helped her to better support her current business. Now she and her group member would like to request another loan with VisionFund of 1,400,000 KHR and 600,000 KHR respectively. As the leader, Raem will use her portion to buy fertilizer and seeds for her farmland. In addition, she will use a portion of it to pay labor fees. Through this loan, she hopes to obtain a high yield from her plantation business so as to maintain her good progress improving her lifestyle and to keep her children in school.
