A loan of $900 helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland and grocery items to resell.

Sary's Group's story

A citizen from a rural village of Kampong Cham province’s Ponhea Krek district, Sary is age 50 and married. She has four children to take care of; some of them help the family’s business and others have their own employment. To feed her family, she has worked hard as a rice farmer for twenty years. She also sells grocery items to earn income for the family. For additional income, Sary’s husband works for others in the local area, for a fee.

Sary’s group consists of three members who are all female. Sari has been with VisionFund for one loan cycle. The past loan helped her to gradually improve her earnings. Now she is leading her group to apply for a loan with VisionFund of 1,200,000 KHR, each. Sary, the group leader, is going to use part of her loan to buy fertilizers for her farmland, and part of it to purchase more grocery items to resell, such as eggs, sugar, and candied fruit. She hopes to grow a healthy rice crop, to increase her family’s income and make their standard of living better.
