A loan of $1,025 helped to buy cement, sand, rebar, concrete blocks, paving stones and to pay labor costs.

Mercedes Del Socorro's story

Mercedes is 30-years-old; her husband works in a market in Managua providing hauling services. She has two children, her oldest is 13-years-old, who attend school. Mercedes used to sell traditional fast-food at home to cover household expenses but her health was affected by the hard work in front of the hot fire so she found another business alternative; she’s now been gradually moving into selling varied clothes. In order to continue improving her home environment, she’s requesting a loan to erect a wall around her house and needs to buy materials like cement, sand, rebar, concrete blocks, paving stones and to pay labor costs to do so. With this construction she will make her house a little safer. Once she completes this small infrastructure project she will opt for a new loan to continue improving because progress is possible only by means of credit.
