A loan of $850 helped to buy a gas stove and an electric grinder, so as to increase production capacity and reduce costs.

Ana Dilia's story

Ana started an arepas [Colombian maize breads] making business approximately a year ago, motivated mainly by the great economic difficulties that her household was facing. That was when she started her business - with very little capital but with great enthusiasm. Thanks to her making arepas her husband and their two children can have a better quality of life at home and although they still have difficulties, they have more of a chance of getting over them. The greatest difficulty Ana has in her business is her carbon stove and the grinder to produce the arepas, which is manual. This makes her production much more expensive and also often delays her work. Hoping to overcome this difficulty Ana is looking for a loan in order to buy a gas stove and an electric grinder, so as to increase production capacity and reduce costs.

Her dream is to have a large arepa factory where she can distribute her product to different municipalities. Also she hopes to increase her income so that her family can have a better quality of life at home.
