Sokna's Group's story

A mother of three children, Sokna is 44 years old and a citizen from Kampong Cham province's Ponhea Krek district, Cambodia. For sustenance in her family, she grows rice with support from her husband as the main source of income. Additionally, she also runs a small food stall and works for others for a fee as extra income. With 20 years of experience in her business, she can earn about 23,000 KHR per day.

Her first loan with VisionFund was in 2008 and this is her fifth-cycle loan. After the successful past loan that she has completely paid back, she has managed to buy a cow and additional farmland for supporting her rice-cropping business.

Now, she has formed a group of two to seek a new loan. Her requesting amount is 1,400,000 KHR and her co-member is applying for 1,100,000 KHR. As a group leader, she is going to use her portion to buy additional cows for supporting her farmland. She hopes to earn more income so she can keep a better lifestyle.
