A loan of $5,350 helped a member to buy incense, perfumes, shoes, groundnut and millet for resale.

Binta Ba's Group's story

This group was set up on 13th December 2008 and is made up of women who all live in the commune and get on well together. Ndoumbé, who is the 38-year old star of the group, is standing on the right of the photo with her hand raised. She is married and mother to five daughters and two sons. Once her loan is granted she will buy 10 kg of incense, ten packs of perfume, ten pairs of shoes, five to ten 100kg barrels of groundnut and millet to resell at the weekly markets. With the profits she makes from her business, she can improve her family's living conditions by paying her children's schooling costs but also by boosting her savings and repaying the interest on her loan.
