A loan of $700 helped to buy fruits and vegetables.

Ramatou's story

Ramatou is a 33-year-old married woman and the mother of one child. She lives with her child at her husband's place in the "Hérémakono Nord" neighborhood of Bougouni.

She attended koranic school for a few years and then decided to get involved in income-generating activities, particularly in buying and selling vegetables and leafy greens. She learned this activity from her aunt. Ramatou now has more than ten years of experience in this field and has become very proficient at it. After being introduced to Soro Yiriwaso by a friend from her neighborhood, she decided to join the institution.

Ramatou plans to use her loan to buy three baskets of bananas, one basket of cucumbers, one basket of fresh tomatoes and one basket of carrots. This is her third loan with Soro Yiriwaso, and her two previous loans have been duly repaid. She buys her goods in Bougouni, and also frequently in Sikasso. She sells at the Grand Market in Bougouni, to both men and women.

Ramatou is a popular seller at the Bougouni market and her products are in high demand. She has a high turnover and she manages to make a monthly profit of 50,000 CFA francs.

Her earnings help her to cover some of the expenses of her family and also to improve her business.
