A loan of $700 helped to buy sheep and goats.

Nouhoum's story

Nouhoum is a 51-year-old married man and the father of four children. He lives with his wife and children at his uncle's place in a neighborhood of Bougouni called "Hérémakono Nord".

Having never attended modern [secular] school, Nouhoum got involved in income-generating activities at a very young age. Before buying and selling sheep and goats, he was involved in fishing, but he wasn't very successful. Three years ago, a friend taught him how to buy and sell sheep and goat, and he has been involved in this activity since.

He learned about Soro Yiriwaso through his wife, who is a client of the institution. He decided to join their loan program, and he is on his second loan. He is planning to buy 15 sheep and 20 goats.

Nouhoum buys his livestock in Bougouni and the Wassoulou region and sells at the cattle market in Bougouni and Bamako.

He is expecting monthly profits to reach 80,000 CFA francs and is planning to use his profits to build a house to live in and to expand his business.
