A loan of $1,650 helped a member to buy fertilizers and seeds for her farmland.

Sarum's Group's story

A villager from Battambang province’s Ratanak Mondul district, Sarum is 32 years old and married with two children, who are still in school. To make a living, she has been planting red maize for six years as her primary business. Lack of working capital and insects are the main challenges for her family’s business.

Sarum’s group consists of five members who live in the same village. She has been a member of VisionFund for three cycles already and completely paid back the loans, which have helped better support her family’s living. Now she can earn about 60,000 KHR per day from the current business and can save about 35,000 KHR each day for future needs. Now she is leading her group to apply for a loan with VisionFund. She wants to use her portion to buy fertilizers and seeds for her farmland and use a portion to buy pesticides to better support her business. She hopes to increase her crop yields and sell for a good price to improve her standard of living.
