Kalsoom's Group's story

Kalsoom is a 40-year-old woman who lives in Punjab, Pakistan, with her husband and daughter.

Since 2004, her husband has had been running a fish shop in the main market as the only source of income for their family. He is a very hard working and honest person and he is capable of generating more income.

Kalsoom, a member of a six-person lending group, has requested a loan from Kiva partner Brac Pakistan to support the growth of her husband's fish shop. He hopes to increase his monthly income and save funds for the future of their only daughter. As the Muslim religious holiday, Eid-ul-Azah, is near, she wants to purchase new clothes for her family as well from the profit generated.

Kalsoom dreams for her daughter's bright future and prays for husband's good health. Many thanks and best wishes for Kiva from her. Note: in the picture Kalsoom holding a pass book in hand.
