A loan of $1,275 helped to buy perfumes, creams, pants, blouses, underwear, etc.

Laura Maryorie's story

The members of the "Mujeres En Acción" communal bank meet every two weeks in the city of Puertoviejo, capital of Manabi province, a place known for many years as the "City of the Royal Tamarinds."

Laura is 53 years old and married. She has three children: two adults and an 18-year-old who attends university. Her husband is a taxi driver.

She's a wonderful housewife who is also a businesswoman. She sells Esika, Yanbal and Avon products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfume and women's accessories), as well as clothing by catalog from brands such as Nivi, Unimoda, Leoniza and other national and Colombian brands.

She sells door-to-door and works every day for around five hours a day. She receives the merchandise in her home; getting only the Colombian clothing from a distributor. She has in business for more than 15 years, and it always goes very well.

She's going to use this loan to buy perfumes, creams, pants, blouses, underwear, etc. She has been in the communal bank for eight years, and likes it because of the help the loans provide her. Her dream is to have her own house and a shop.
