This group called Santhiaba Coki 2 is part of the "Banc Villageois" system and was formed on December 30th, 2009. Its members are women who live in the same village. Their principal activity is commerce. The group is made up of 29 women. The president, named Awa, is 47 years old and is married with 3 children - 2 girls and 1 boy.
She has been a seller of cosmetic products for over 7 years. She is standing in the photo - wearing glasses and dressed in a white blouse and green traditional outfit ('pagne'). She has her right hand raised and her finger pointed. She buys her stock (perfumes, body lotion, beauty cream, ....hairdressing materials) in Dakar and sells the merchandise in her small store in her local market.
With the loan, she intends to buy cosmetic products (hair supports and rollers, perfumes, body cream) in order to build her stock and therefore to grow her income. The profits will allow her to cover her family's living expenses and to improve the living conditions of her children.
