Martha Maria's story

Doña Martha is employed as a domestic worker in a private home and takes care of the children. Her husband works as a lathe operator in a machine shop. She has a seven-year old child she leaves at a boarding school so she can go to work and once she is finished, she picks him up. Martha suffered a great deal of poverty upon the death of her mother when she was only 15 years old. Consequently she works hard so that her son will not perish. Wishing to get ahead and make improvement on her house, she is requesting a loan in order to finish installing a roof on her home. Now when it rains the water gets inside and it is very uncomfortable because she has a dirt floor and this can affect her son’s health. At his age he is vulnerable to many kinds of illnesses. Martha’s future plans are to start her own business in her home and to take better care of her young son.
