A loan of $600 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Saphan's Group's story

Saphan is 57 years old, married and blessed with seven children. She resides in a rural area of the Ponhea Krek district of Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. To support the family, she has been farming rice on a 2-hectare area of farmland for 37 years and supplements the income by raising pigs. The current occupation earns her family about 20,000 Cambodian riels (KHR) per day and allows them to save about 7,000KHR each day after deducting daily expenses. Saphan has been with VisionFund for three loan cycles and completely paid back the past loans, which have helped her to better support her family's living conditions. She is now applying for a new loan with VisionFund. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and to buy piglets for raising. She hopes to grow her business and earn a larger income to improve her standard of living.
