A loan of $475 helped to buy plants.

Pastor's story

Pastor has been a coffee grower for the last 45 years. His grandparents and his parents taught him and his brothers everything related to coffee growing which is the main economic activity in the region where he lives.

Currently, Pastor and his wife, Albertina, produce ten tons yearly and work their fields with help from their children. Pastor’s goal is to increase production to 18 tons annually in three years because although he has sufficient land to do so he needs to plant more plants because many of the ones he has are old and don’t produce much anymore which is why he needs the loan.

Pastor delivers his entire coffee production to a local gathering center for subsequent shipment to “Unión Regional de Huatusco” [coffee cooperative] that processes and exports it. In the future, he’d also like to open a store and start to grow other products like corn, beans and sugarcane.
