Blanca Leonor's story

Blanca has been a member of the communal bank Corazón de María for six years, during which time she has formed good friendships with all the other members. She lives in a community in the Valle Parish in Cuenca, which is surrounded by mountains, giving it a picturesque environment. The climate is cold and the local people are hard workers in agriculture, livestock farming and commerce. They keep their culture and traditions alive.

Blanca is 43 years old, married and has five children, ages 24, 23, 22, 20 and 17. Two of her children work and study at university, two work and help out economically and the youngest son goes to the local high school. Her husband is a taxi driver and has his own business. They live in rental property since they do not own a home.

Blanca has been offering a buffet service for ten years, which is run on an order basis. She also has a transport vehicle, and at home takes care of the household chores.

She plans to use the credit to buy groceries to make the food she sells, and spare parts for her vehicle.

Her goal, which she is near to, is to buy her own house.
