A loan of $1,175 helped to buy three bags of pea seeds and sacks of natural fertilizer.

Mercedes's story

Mercedes, 35, lives with Héctor. They have three children: Jenifer, 16, Miguel, 10, and Rosalí, 2. They all live in a house of their own that they built with much effort and is located in an agricultural annex. Mercedes is a hardworking, responsible mother. Her activity is agriculture. It isn’t easy work even more so with a little girl but Mercedes is admirable and strives hard working her land. Thanks to this dedication, she now owns farmland of her own. She grows potatoes and peas in large amounts but also grows corn, lima beans and gladiolas but this isn’t all the time.

She also owns two bulls for plowing and two donkeys to carry the crops. She and her husband are very happy and glad because they enjoy working in agriculture because it generates income with each harvest. Because of this, she’s sure to make progress by means of her crops and to save up to buy more land and save on land lease costs.

Her immediate plan is to plant peas and potatoes and is once again requesting your help to do so. She’s a member of the “Santa Cruz de Patay” communal bank and this is her 11th MFP loan. She promises to make each of her payments and she also hopes to start saving in her communal bank. She will use 1,500 of the requested 3,000 soles to buy three bags of pea seeds and the rest to buy sacs of natural fertilizer like barnyard and farm guano.
