A loan of $1,525 helped to buy 5 bags of pea seeds and several bags of organic fertilizer.

Delfina's story

Delfina, 43, lives with Abdon and they have a 19-year-old daughter, Lisbeth. They live in their own house on a farm. Delfina is a loving, responsible mother who has been working in agriculture since she was 19. Together with Abdon, she has gained much satisfaction from this activity, "Thanks to agriculture, I have my own house and land", she says. She grows peas, maize, potatoes, alfalfa and gladiolous flowers. Because of the variety of her crops she is always busy, and always has sales and income for the household and to save. These months are crucial for all the crops because the rains have started. Delfina does not want to get behind and therefore is requesting your help to plant peas, beans and potatoes, which will be ready for harvest in February next year. This is her 13th loan through MFP. She is committed to paying it back on time. She is the treasurer of her communal bank "Santa Cruz de Patay", and is very comfortable having active members in her group. She is requesting 3,900 PEN to buy 5 sacks of pea seeds (2,500 PEN). The rest will be used to buy several bags of organic fertilizer and farm manure for her future bean, potato and pea crops.
