A loan of $850 helped a member to buy ingredients including rice, pork, and vegetables.

Sithorn's Group's story

Sithoun is a 37-year-old married mother of three children, one of whom (a son) is dependent on her and still in school. Her family lives in a rural area of the Moung Russey district of Battambang province, Cambodia. Sithoun has earned a living by running a small food stall (offering breakfast) in the market in the local area for five years. She is able to earn about 22,000 Cambodian riels (KHR) per day and manages to save about 15,000 KHR per day after her daily expenses.

Sithorn has been with VisionFund for three cycles, whereas her group members are first-time borrowers with VisionFund. Sithoun's past loans, which she successfully paid back, have relieved the burden on her family. Now she is leading her group of three to request a loan. She will use her portion to buy ingredients for her business, including rice, pork, and vegetables. She hopes to increase her income so as to keep making good progress in her lifestyle.
