A loan of $1,500 helped to buy shoes and Yanbal products.

Ligia Ramona's story

In the city of Portoviejo, the capital of Manabí Province, known for many years as the "City of the Royal Tamarind Trees," the partners of the Avenida del Ejército Communal Bank meet every fifteen days. Ligia is 59 years old and married with four children, all of whom are already grown and independent. Her husband is a businessman. In order to earn her own money and feel useful, Ligia works in retail. She is a consultant for Yanbul (a company which sells beauty items, cosmetics, perfume, and women's accessories). She also sells Azalea and Dicaza-brand shoes. She works from 13:30 to 19:00 every day, taking orders and delivering products to the 12 salespeople who are under her supervision.

Ligia buys her range of shoes in Quito. She has been working in this business for more than 14 years, which has brought her very good profits. She will use this loan to buy more merchandise, such as shoes from both brands and Yanbal products for her personal sales. She is the founding partner of the communal bank, and enjoys the help which the loans always give her. Her dream is to be a Yanbal director.
