Sebastiana's story

Sebastiana is a woman that works in the field of agriculture. She is married and lives in Sololá with her husband and her eight children. Two of her children are married and the other six, three women and three men, work with her in agriculture.

She makes a living cultivating broccoli, corn, beans and flowers that are grown in the region. This is in the area of the land that she has with her husband. This is the principal family income as she says that it is the primary profitable activity that her parents taught her when she was 15 years old and with the passage of time she got married and works together with her husband.

She sees her need to have more capital in order to continue cultivating. She is requesting a loan of $6,000 GTQ to buy broccoli seeds, manure, insecticides and more. She comments that among her goals are: to continue investing in more crops in order to generate more income and also to build a better home for all of her family.
