A loan of $1,675 helped to buy a printer, a computer and international phone call credits.

Norella Patricia's story

Six years ago, Norella Patricia noted that her house was well-situated for an Internet access room and that there were no others in the neighborhood. She opened providing her customers with photocopying services, Internet access service and mobile phone calls. It’s open every day from 8am until 9pm. It’s a lot of work for Norella but she doesn’t mind because she has to earn income to provide wellbeing for her 10-month-old son and this is why she’s trying to increase her income to be able to set aside a monthly amount to save and someday, if she earns enough money, to buy her own house.

Norella is applying for the Kiva loan she needs to properly equip her Internet access site. She will buy a printer, a computer and credits for international phone calls because she wants to expand coverage of her business so that her customers will be more satisfied and comfortable each time.

This would be the first financing she gets from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo and success for her resides not only in her capacity for work and her own motivation but also because market potential exists that she’s not yet explored due to insufficient capital.
