A loan of $1,850 helped a member to buy wool.

Antonio Paredez Candia Group's story

The communal bank "Antonio Paredes Candia" is starting its thirteenth loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the regional group Panamericana. The bank is made up of 7 members and is headed by a board of directors, with Magdalena as director. The members' business are varied and include sewing petticoats, selling fresh goods and biscuits, food sales, cake sales, blanket sales and confectionary. The loan will benefit various small microbusinesses where Magdalena is a member. She indicates that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for a year and a half, joining by invitation of a friend who is a member of the institution. She currently has a business sewing and selling blankets, a trade she has worked in for years having learnt from her mother-in-law. The loan that she is now taking out is to raise her capital (to buy wool) that she will get from wholesalers and later she will make and sell them in her sales location. This type of work allows her to generate an income to support her family as she lives with a partner and has three children. When she asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the training in finance and health.
