Rahayu Group's story

After Karangbenda village was devastated by a tsunami, their economic life was in very poor condition. All their efforts were destroyed. Their rice fields were inundated in the tsunami. With concern for the natural disaster of the tsunami, the "Rahayu" group was formed. Rahayu of group members there were 19 people, but only 15 members are to be borrowers. So, one person in the picture, one of the members who do not borrow., each having a different business including coffee shops, food stalls, food production and children's game rooms. The "Rahayu" group is located at the edge of the beach called Beach Srandil. With a loan from Kiva, all members want to raise capital to increase the types of food they sell, to supplement the contents of their stalls with snacks for the kids, and to buy more sophisticated tools for producing more Bandeng presto ( Pressed Salted fish).

The “Rahayu” group is led by a mother who has a coffee shop and a games room. Sumarsih is the leader and she has three children who are still in school. Her husband is a farmer. For Sumarsih, this means a loan primarily for her family and members of the group Rahayu. She hopes that with this loan, she can raise capital to complete her coffee shop and add more variety of children's games. Sumarsih also hopes that all members can live a better life and be more eager to develop their businesses. In the picture, the leader is raising her hand.
